St John's has been part of the Bexley Community since 1882, when it was founded as a proprietary chapel of St Mary the Virgin Bexley (at the other end of the high street).
In addition to the regular patterns of life the church, with it's striking spire, has stood watch over the Village: A peaceful sanctuary and spiritual water-cooler, where the community are welcome whatever their needs or circumstances. The church is open throughout the week for anyone to drop in and the open grounds offer a peaceful oasis in a busy world.
For many in Bexley, this is their church, being with them through the changing scenes of life as children (and adults) are Baptised, couples are married, and we say farewell to loved ones at funerals and memorials. St John's is a member of the Inclusive Church network, wearing our heart on our sleeve when it comes to an open inclusion for all, celebrating the diversities of ethnicity, sexuality, gender identity, physical abilities, special educational needs, mental health needs, neurodiversities, social class, and the many, many characteristics that make human beings so wonderful.
We also strive to improve our standing as an eco-friendly church, ensuring that we act in sustainable and caring ways to the wider creation.
We also have a hall for hire, for events, groups, regular hirers, and children's parties.
